lets play vodka....
awning success! I finished sewing it during the week but Phil and I finally had a chance to put it up today - had a fun night hanging out with Joaquim til 5am and talking to Sharon on speakerphone from Bangladesh.....
someone started enjoying the shade right away.....we used an easy alligator clip and caribiner combo so I didn't have to use grommets or anything....and it can easily be unhooked in high winds.....I did have to get special nylon sailcloth thread though......
Phil's so happy his studio will be 10 times cooler now....
this Sunbrella fabric is so awesome! even though it's light colored, it totally diffuses the sun.....
off to lay in the shade.............

paper thin..................
finally got a mandolin......officially became a life changing kitchen tool.............
these however...completely unnecessary but needed them for some reason....little Japanese food picks or something with animals on them!
Zero at the vet again......waiting for her steroid shot to combat major itchiness.....good thing she isn't competing in the Olympics......
she gets so many complements on her harness...except everyone always thinks she's a boy.....she's just not a pink kind of dog.......

walk ins welcome..........................
Momo and Koto have been wanting me to do their nails on Wednesdays - since they see mine with the flower decals and whatnot. But I wouldn't dare use regular nailpolish on them - after doing some research, I ordered these last week and they just came today!
Hopscotch watercolor nailpolishes..........totally kid safe and odor free....complete with a soy nailpolish remover.....even came with a glittery topcoat..........
cute names like Peter,Peter Pumpkin Eater and You Are my Sunshine..........
and the color coverage is pretty good too..........
can't wait til Wednesday........

awn and awn................
had a very relaxing yet productive 3 day weekend.....
finally caught up on some magazine reading!
went on some long walks............
picked some mini red peppers from the garden.....
and Phil and I put up all the posts for the awning on his deck......he stained them and I sewed the awning together...20 feet of fabric was a workout...hoping to have it up by next weekend......

leave it to Target to make the cutest plastic berry baskets..........
and I finally found the best pantry jars from Crate and Barrel....they have acacia wood lids! Phil thought I was nuts just staring at them and arranging..........

hanging on a moment...............
made my own rose water today! I looked up a tutorial on You Tube....I picked a ton of roses from the front yard............
washed all the petals off in a collander........
it yielded a huge basketful.....
I put them in a pot with filtered water, and a bowl (on top of a brick) to catch the distilled water............
inverted the pot lid...and all the steam collected and ran into the bowl..........ice helps the moisture collect
and after about an hour - I got this.....going to mix it with some witch hazel and use it as a face mist....
it's no Santa Maria Novella but it'll do...............

my neon cart is almost done! could use one more coat but it's way too windy today.........
I also got this spray paint at Michaels the other day for an Ikea lamp I have.....they carry this Liquitex line and the line by Montana which I love..the color choices are so amazing....I mean like 7 different yellows! Hardware stores just can't compete.... it's more for artists to use on canvas and taggers I guess...Phil used to buy Montanas at a place on Melrose back in the day...so much more accessible now...

toy boat...............
some new 12" solar lanterns I got at Lowe's the other day......I was pleasantly suprised to see that they give off a warm light instead of the cool blue type....
love this Japanese line of nailpolish called Pa......an array of mermaidy seafoams.......
playing around with a bunch of different ombre glitter effects while Zero watches me patiently........
